The Mill Barns wedding venue – our first look

It’s always exciting when a new wedding venue opens in our area.  However in this case it’s a bit different – as the location is one that we have photographed many times in the past when it was known as The Mill at Alveley.  Unfortunately the venue was totally destroyed by fire in 2015 – but it has now been totally rebuilt as a bespoke wedding venue.  As it is a sister venue to our local Pendrell Hall, we were expecting something a bit special – and our visit this morning did not disappoint.  Now called the Mill Barns, it has been built using the style keys of a traditional barn – but full of modern features and comforts. Water is one of the main design features for the exterior, making full use of the stream and it’s accompanying mill pond. With on-site accommodation and a no-corkage policy, it is going to be a sure fire hit with couples looking for a wedding venue. Needless to say, we’re looking forward to working there soon!

Wedding of Local MP at Pendrell Hall

Its not often that we photograph the wedding of someone who is  in the public eye. However we were fortunate enough that Wolverhampton NE MP Emma Reynolds booked us as the photographers for her wedding at Pendrell Hall at Codsall Wood on 16th April.  Even though the weather was unseasonably chilly, the sun shone and the lovely Pendrell Hall provided a stunning backdrop for our photographs.

Staffordshire Wedding Venues – Pendrell Hall – Wedding Photography

The second in a short series of reviews of our favourite Staffordshire Wedding Venues. This time it’s the turn of Pendrell Hall, a beautiful wedding venue just a few minutes from our home in Codsall.

Since opening as a wedding venue in July 2013, we have photographed many weddings at Pendrell Hall.  Originally built as a Victorian gentlemans residence in the Arts and Crafts style, in more recent times it became a local authority training college. Fortunately many of the original features were retained – and when it was purchased by the current owners they started a huge refurbishment scheme to bring it back to its former glory. And what a great job they did!

The Arts and Craft influence is very much in evidence in many areas – all lovingly restored.

For bridal preparations there is no better room than “Love is Enough” situated just above the main wedding area. Very well equipped, it has all the facilities – and the correct ambiance – for the bride and bridesmaids to get ready for the big day.

With the recent addition of the gazebo, outdoor weddings are also now possible at Pendrell – supplementing the excellent indoor facilities.

There are plenty of locations indoor and out for your all  photographs – and even more importantly, plenty of space for you and your guests to circulate and mingle, whatever the weather may be doing.

The bar facilities at Pendrell are very flexible, with the unusual option of being able to supply your own drinks – corkage free!

Catering is normally provided by the the excellent Jenkinsons – and we can say the food is excellent!

For the management of your day Pendrell have some very experienced event staff – headed up by Jon – who has many years of experience in running perfect wedding days. We always enjoy working at Pendrell – as we know the overall experience for our joint customers will be excellent.

And for your guests, Pendrell offer a large number of on-site rooms, all recently refurbished to a very high standard – saving that inconvenient taxi ride home!

But don’t just take our word for it – give Pendrell Hall a call and pay them a visit – you won’t be disappointed. But don’t forget to contact us for your photographs too!!

Staffordshire Wedding venues – Somerford Hall

This is the first of a short series of reviews of some of our favourite local wedding venues.

Somerford Hall is an elegant palladian mansion house situated between Wolverhampton and Penkridge near the village of Brewood – and is one of our favourite wedding venues.

We have photographed so many  weddings there – even including a member of staff!  Somerford is what we call a “safe” venue – as there is plenty to work with both indoors and out – so your photographs will always turn out great – whatever the weather. It’s also a lovely and impressive location for your guests – with a spectacular entrance driveway – and is totally surrounded by over 100 acres of Staffordshire countryside.

Somerford hall exterior

There is a choice of two ceremony rooms – depending on the number of guests. Both offer elegant and comfortable locations for the pivotal point – and most emotional time of your big day.

The friendly and efficient staff at Somerford always ensure your day runs smoothly – and we always work very closely with them to ensure the day plan is adhered to – whilst at the same time getting those spectacular photos you long for.

The gardens are an ideal place for both your personal and family photos – and the hidden folly is a surefire photo opportunity!

We always hear great feedback about the food at Somerford – and on the occasions we have sampled it ourselves – we are more than inclined to agree with the wedding guests!

Towards the end of the day the Hall transforms itself into your perfect party venue – with adequate space for a band if you so wish – with plenty of room left to dance the night away!

And if some our your guests want to have a quiet interlude during the evening , the bar or library offer a chance to sit somewhere a bit more secluded – whilst remaining part of the party.

Importantly Somerford Hall also offers onsite accommodation for you and your guests. So no inconvenient taxis at the end of your day!

Quite often at wedding fayres we talk to couples who are still searching for their ideal wedding venue. When we hear the type of venue they are looking for we regularly suggest Somerford Hall – and a few of these have come back and booked us after booking Somerford.

So if you like the views of Somerford Hall above – why not go and have a look for yourselves – and then maybe think about us as your wedding photographers!

The new wedding season is already here!!

With our first wedding of 2015 already under our belts – and the season’s first wedding fayre at Shugborough Hall yesterday – the wedding season is once again underway.  More weddings are coming up for us in February and March, so the old traditional wedding season of April to September has now well and truly extended to all 12 months of the year.  This does mean that we do rely on a much larger proportion of the photos being taken indoors – either due to rain- or the temperature! Therefore if you are booking a winter season wedding – please bear your photographers in mind – and try and book somewhere where there is space to take some photos!

Davenport House Wedding – a Wolverhampton Magazine special feature

One of the highlights of our 2014 wedding season was the fabulous wedding of Charlotte and Ricki at Davenport House near Worfield, Brignorth.  So when we were approached by Wolverhampton magazine editor Heather Loat to supply photos from this wedding for a double page feature in their January 2015 edition – we were only too happy to oblige!

Following on from a pre-wedding shoot at the venue, the wedding took place on a wonderfully sunny day in July. Warm weather and a bit of sunshine always lifts the mood at any occasion – but on this day the guests were all bright and sunny anyway! Charlotte looked gorgeous in a Ellis Bridal wedding dress supplied by the Dressing Rooms in Halesowen –  and with flowers by Katie Rose flowers of Tamworth.

The groomsmen were stylishly attired by suits from Peter Posh in Tettenhall.

Davenport House itself is a beautiful venue – with spectacular views over the Shropshire countryside. It’s also pretty gorgeous indoors too!

The owners of Davenport House, Roger and Jane Murphy were only too happy to accommodate any requests by Charlotte and Ricki – or indeed ourselves!

We topped off the day with our exclusive evening photoshow – where about 80 photos for the day are on a big screen right before the first dance. Charlotte and Ricki and took advantage of our evening photo guestbook  option – and the completed book was presented to them at the end of the evening.

We really enjoyed photographing this lovely wedding – and hope to be returning to Davenport House again in the near future.

Pendrell Hall Wedding Photography – a Halloween wedding!

Late October saw us again visiting our local Pendrell Hall for the beautiful wedding of Amanda and Mark. What a  lovely couple and lovely guests! We were also blessed with the warmest Halloween on record – with it touching 21C during the afternoon! This was much appreciated by the guests, who to everyone’s surprise (for this time  of year) were enjoying drinks on the  terrace in the sunshine. Our exclusive evening photoshow rounded off the day – and can be seen here:

Somerford Hall Wedding Photography – a family affair! – Codsall Photographic

Somerford Hall is one of our favourite wedding venues.  In August we were privileged to be the wedding photographers for Nicola and Gareth. This was made even more special for us as Nicola is the daughter of one of the venues’ event managers – and even works at Somerford herself occasionally!  As is often the case in England, the weather wasn’t totally on our side on the day, however due to the flexibility of Somerford hall – and a short break in the rain at just the right time, we still managed to capture some unforgettable memories for them.

And just to finish off, the staff members from Somerford also posed to a photo – and yes – it made it into the album!!

Sandon Hall Wedding Photographer – Hannah and Chris

Saturday 16th August took us back to the glorious Sandon Hall north of Stafford for the wedding of Hannah and Chris. It’s always a pleasure to be wedding photographers at Sandon Hall as there are just so many great photo opportunities both inside and out. The day was kept on track by the lovely Margaret and catering was supplied by Jenkinsons. The wedding car was supplied by Platinum Cars and driven by our good friend John – who is always only too happy to assist in placing the car for the best photos.  Here is a small selection of photos from the day.    Enjoy!!!HC-004 HC-011 HC-015 HC-033 HC-042 HC-054 HC-086 HC-092 HC-093 HC-096 HC-104 HC-112 HC-121 HC-133 HC-160 HC-164 HC-171 HC-176 HC-179 HC-199 HC-248 HC-257 HC-291 HC-302 HC-306 HC-309 HC-314

Many thanks to Hannah and Chris for trusting us to be their wedding photographers!!

Hawkesyard Hall Wedding Photography – Claire and Jon

It was great to return to the lovely Hawkesyard Hall near Rugeley for the wedding of Claire and Johnathan.  On what was certainly one of the best days of the year for weather, the sun shone on the wedding party and a great time was had by all. Claire looked simply stunning with her beautiful flowers supplied by Lynne at Fine Flowers and in her Essence of Australia dress from White Rose Bridals of Rugeley .

We certainly enjoyed photographing this fun packed wedding. Thanks to Claire and Jon for having us as their photographers!
